Recently he was the Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago. For over 9 years, he ran and was the senior statesman of the industry and was its tenured professional, administrator and spokesman. He has also been the C.E.O. of Home Builder Associations in Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Alabama, to go with industry and community involvements too numerous to mention. Not only a local leader and industry legend, he has earned national recognition and respect in the industry and is a well-published and an effective leader on the local and national levels. Johnston is a past president of the Executive Officers Council of the National Association of Home Builders and has served on numerous boards in and out of the home building business for profit and not-for-profit associations. In quasi-governmental affairs, he has served on the Chicago Federal Reserve's Industrial Round Table and has been a leader and spokesperson for government affairs.
